Dr. Bob Campbell

Co-director Dr. Bob Campbell works with individuals and couples to increase psychological flexibility and decrease pain. He has special interests in relationship therapy, older adults, and medical issues (e.g., cancer, multiple sclerosis, sleep issues). Much of his work has been focused on couples therapy and anxiety reduction.

Dr. Campbell has been appointed to the Allied Health Staff in the Department of Psychiatry at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. He has worked with cancer patients and their families at the Cancer Wellness Center in Northbrook, Illinois. He has also been a Guest Adjunct Professor in the Doctoral program at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, where he taught both Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Geropsychology. In addition to his psychological training, Rev. Dr. Campbell is an ordained United Methodist pastor, which allows him to address spiritual issues in therapy. Dr. Campbell consults with a number of churches, community groups, and businesses in change management, performance improvement, and business development.

Dr. Campbell is a licensed clinical psychologist. He has earned degrees from Harvard University, The Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and the Adler School of Professional Psychology. He also trained at the VA Medical Center in St. Louis, has completed Level 3 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and has advanced training in hypnosis from the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.

Dr. Campbell modifies his treatment approach to fit the individual situation. Some possible interventions include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Adlerian therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy (CBT), Existential therapy, hypnosis, and mindfulness-based approaches.
