Paula Casas, LCSW

Paula Casas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in supporting individuals and families experiencing a loss or life transition. Her expertise and familiarity with the complex and often painful issues that accompany these human experiences come not only from her training and clinical work with children and families, but also from her own experience in coming to accept a personal loss. Her other areas of experience include navigating trauma, depression and anxiety, perinatal mood disorders, and parenting issues.

Paula's work with clients is highly collaborative and relationship-based. She is an empathic listener who strives to connect deeply with people and applies therapeutic approaches best suited to your own needs and disposition. She often uses guided meditation and mindfulness-based activities to help you connect more fully with your emotions and body. She also helps you tap into your existing strengths and access personal and community supports and resources when appropriate.

Paula has 15 years of experience in the field. She earned a master's degree in social work from the University of Chicago and a master's degree in child development from Erikson Institute. As a first generation Colombian-American, Paula is fluent in Spanish and has appreciation for how cultural roots influence a person's sense of self and relationship. Paula has experiences with clients of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, having provided clinical services in both affluent suburbs and underserved urban neighborhoods. Paula is also affiliated with Barr-Harris Children's Grief Center.
